They don’t care about you

They think your power bills are a political opportunity.

Deep down, the politicians who decide energy policy don’t really think it matters much if you have to pay more.

How else do you explain the Labor government’s little stunt in Parliament yesterday?

Barnaby Joyce, an open opponent of the Net Zero regime, introduced a Private Member’s Bill into the Parliament to scrap Net Zero targets.

Plenty of Private Member’s Bills like this get introduced and don’t go anywhere. Many don’t even get to the stage of being debated.

So while Joyce is taking an admirable stand, you and I know that with the makeup of the Parliament it’s virtually no chance of passing or even being debated seriously.

But the Net Zero pushing Labor government had other ideas.

No, they don’t want the merits of Net Zero debated in the open. No, they’re not reconsidering their stance on massive subsidies for foreign renewable companies.

No, they’re not going to stop destroying farms and coastland with wind and solar projects.

Rather, as the ABC reported:

Labor will seek to maximise pain over internal Coalition divisions on whether to keep or scrap its net zero emissions commitment, allowing debate in the chamber today on Barnaby Joyce's bill to repeal climate laws.

That is, they think there’s a political opportunity in “maximising pain” for the Opposition.

The ABC calls the stunt a “manoeuvre” and says it will “oxygenate differences” in the Liberal and National parties.

In other words, they don’t care that this is a real problem affecting Aussie families.

They’re not interested in defending Net Zero on the merits, or explaining to you why your power bills keep going up and the grid gets worse.

They’re not going to stand up and explain how your skyrocketing cost of living is going to change the weather.

They’re just trying to win the “news cycle”.

It’s a betrayal of you and your fellow Australians, and it’s why ADVANCE is telling politicians loud and clear that they must dump Net Zero or we’ll dump you.
