Back in the day the Labor party recruited their future leaders from the trade union movement. They recruited young people who were deeply in touch with the concerns of mainstream Australians. They enlisted young people who had a strong disdain for elitism. And they wanted young people who wouldn’t scare off socially conservative family-minded voters with radical hardcore Marxist politics.
Right now, Australia is loaded up with an unprecedented level of debt. Interest rates are about to go up for the first time in almost a decade. And yet Labor wants to blow taxpayer money on useless batteries that are far worse for the environment than a gas turbine or coal-fired power plant would ever be.
Although he’s lost a few, bought some new glasses and seen a very good dentist; Each-Way Albo is still the same bloke whose only job in life has been to run the socialist-left faction of the Labor Party.
