SEAT TO WATCH: Macnamara
Loading...
Labor's Josh Burns holds the inner-city Melbourne seat of Macnamara by 12.2 per cent. But the seat is high on the Greens target list, and their local campaigners believe they can snatch a win from Albanese.
Despite appearing safe for Labor, the 2022 result in Macnamara was a close content between the Labor, Liberal and Greens candidate. The decisive factor was who got excluded before the final preference distribution.
> If Labor makes the final two, they are well-placed to win on preferences from the Greens and Liberals.
> If Labor comes third after the Greens and Liberals, their preferences would likely flow to the Greens, handing them victory.
With the parties nearly tied last time, even a small swing could shift the outcome – either helping the Greens win or pushing them further behind. Adding to the uncertainty is Labor’s decision to run an open ticket, meaning they’re not directing preferences, making the flow of votes harder to predict.
This is definitely a seat to watch.

The Greens ADVANCE is fighting to defeat
Loading...
Hundreds of ADVANCE volunteers are preparing for election day across the country. The mission? To defeat Greens MPs and reduce them from four to zero in the House of Representatives and to prevent any more getting elected.

ADVANCE is targeted four sitting Greens MPs:
Adam Bandt – The leader of the Greens has held the seat of Melbourne since 2010. At the 2022 election he won almost 50 per cent of the primary vote, meaning that removing him from Parliament is a big task. Bandt is famous for using taxpayer money to hire a private jet to fly to a Greens campaign launch and refuses to stand next to the Australian flag. He holds his seat by 6.5 per cent.
Max Chandler-Mather – One of the more competent Greens campaigners, Chandler-Mather holds his seat by 10.5 per cent. He thinks “more people coming to this country is a good thing”. He has a plan for the Greens to win government by 2030, which is why ADVANCE is working so hard to defeat him.
Stephen Bates – Bates holds the seat of Brisbane by the slender margin of 3.7 per cent. Apart from supporting deranged Greens policies like legalising all drugs, introducing an inheritance tax and increasing immigration, his only claim to fame since he was elected is publicising his decision to join pornography website OnlyFans.
Elizabeth Watson-Brown – The seat of Ryan was won by the Greens in 2022 with a margin of 2.6 per cent. Along with Brisbane, this is one the seats most likely to fall. Watson-Brown has previously attacked ADVANCE supporters and has said the Australian flag represents “untold suffering, dispossession, and the lingering pains of colonisation”.
There are two other seats where the Greens think they can win, which ADVANCE has targeted to stop them winning:
Macnamara – Macnamara is held by Labor’s Josh Burns but the Greens are close to stealing the seat because they have been outpolling Labor on primary votes. Greens candidate Sonya Semmens is a vocal critic of ADVANCE supporters and is probably one of the most radical candidates ever to stand for the Australian parliament.
Wills – A redistribution in this seat makes former Victorian state Greens leader Samantha Ratnam the favourite to take this seat from Labor. She wants to ban utes and 4WDs.
