Massive early swings away from Greens in Brisbane
Loading...
Just a caveat, these are early results! But there have been some encouraging early swings against Greens candidates in Brisbane.
In Ryan, there has been a 5.9% primary vote swing against Greens MP Elizabeth Watson-Brown, with 2.6% of the vote counted. This puts her in third place and if these results continue, she is on track for defeat.
With 1217 votes counted in Griffith, there is a 22.1% two-party preferred swing against Max Chandler-Mather in Griffith. He is also on track for defeat.
With 2.2% of the vote counted in Brisbane, there has been a 17% swing away from Greens MP Stephen Bates. Again, if the results continue to track in this direction, he will also lose.
We'll keep you updated as more results come in.

Very early results in Wills
Loading...
The first results are in, a very early booth in Wills where Greens candidate Samantha Ratnam has recorded a small swing of 2.5%. But there are only 884 votes counted (just 0.7% of the electorate) and Labor's Peter Khalil leads with 52.1% of the two-party vote.
This is a seat the Greens were banking on winning and even though these are early results, they would not be happy with these results.
If these results are replicated in the rest of the count, Greens candidate Samantha Ratnam will lose.

When will we know?

Polls have now closed in the eastern states and even though we won't know who has won government until the votes in WA have been counted, voting in ADVANCE's Greens target seats across Melbourne and Brisbane is now complete.
We expect that the first results from Melbourne, Griffith, Brisbane, Ryan, Wills and Macnamara to come through at about 7pm AEST. However, how many Greens have lost their seats may not be known until the results from early voting booths come through from 9-10.30pm.
Just a reminder, these are the Greens ADVANCE is working to defeat:
Adam Bandt - Melbourne (Greens 6.5%)
Max Chandler-Mather - Griffith (Greens 10.5%)
Stephen Bates - Brisbane (Greens 3.7%)
Elizabeth Watson-Brown - Ryan (2.6%)
Sonya Semmens - Macnamara (Labor 12.2%)
Samantha Ratnam - Wills (Labor 4.6%)

What's happening in Greens target seat Macnamara?
Loading...
We now cross to our lead field campaign coordinator, on the ground in the seat of Macnamara.
“One thing I can say is that love us or hate us, everybody knows us,” he said.
“They know our messaging, they know what we stand for and they know the policies that we’re attacking. People know we’re targeting the Greens and they know why.”
They all knew us, and yet, according to our man on the ground: “They can’t refute us.”
And if the mood of the Labor and Greens volunteers are anything to go by: “They’re worried.”
“They won’t speak to us,” he said.
“They don’t want to acknowledge us. The vibe changes when we get to the booth. We’re nothing but polite to them but they don’t want to talk to us.
“You can get a sense that they know we’re the team responsible for the defeat of the Voice. To them, we’re already responsible for any bad outcome they have in this election.”
Bang on!
On the race, our field coordinator said that Macnamara is going to be a close three-way contest between Labor, Greens and Liberals.
“No clear majority yet, this is a tight race,” he said.
Stay tuned.

A million Aussies saw these videos

These two top performing posts by ADVANCE were seen by more than a million Aussies during the campaign. They're also two of the ADVANCE media team's favourites.
This one is about Greens leader Adam Bandt refusing to stand in front of the Australian Flag. What a disgrace:
And here he is, renting a private jet using taxpayer dollars to fly to a Greens campaign launch. Used to be about the environment, not anymore:

SEAT TO WATCH: Wills
Loading...
Labor’s Peter Khalil has held the North-West Melbourne seat since 2016, which has been under safe Labor control since 1972.
Now, the Labor dominance in Wills looks to be less certain.
The Greens have made consistent gains in the seat since 2001. Brunswick, the younger trendier inner-city suburb filled with pubs and bars, serves as the base for the Greens candidate Samantha Ratnam. Labor’s presence remains more pronounced in the northern working class suburbs.
There are a few other factors to keep in mind:
> Liberal preferences hurt the Greens in 2022 and kept Labor in control of the seat.
> A recent redistribution could be set to help the Greens, bringing in wealthier parts Fitzroy North and Princes Hill into the electorate, while carving off sections of the more working class Glenroy and Oak Park.
> Samantha Ratnam is a seasoned state politician fighting hard to get into federal parliament.
Wills is a target seat for ADVANCE and we have been hammering it with anti-Greens digital advertising.
Definitely one to watch when the results come in.

Your impact in 2025

ADVANCE's campaign has been seen by millions of Australians during the federal election campaign.
Since the 1980s, the Greens have gone from a solitary MP to almost 50. ADVANCE's Greens Truth campaign is the first time they have faced significant campaign aimed at damaging their electoral success. It is a highly targeted campaign directed towards voters thinking of voting Greens in six seats across the country.
Our 'Weak, Woke, Sending Us Broke' campaign has been directed at seats where Labor could do well. If it looks like neither major party could win government in their own right, then one of the biggest risks to Australia faces is a Greens-influenced Labor government. We needed to make sure the Labor and the Greens copped a backlash. That's where this campaign came in. Fewer Labor MPs and fewer Greens MPs just means less risk to Australia's freedom, security and prosperity.
Here's a rundown of ADVANCE's campaigns by the numbers.
