NO MORE POLITICIANS – STOP LABOR’S $189 MILLION PARLIAMENT POWER GRAB
Sign the open letter. Tell Labor: no more MPs.
You’re doing it tough. They’re doing themselves a favour.
The Albanese government is pushing to add 42 new politicians to federal parliament.
Each one costs taxpayers $1.5 million a year in salary, staff, offices and travel. Over a single three-year term, that’s more than $189 million of your money.
What $189 million could pay for instead:
- Three regional hospital upgrades
- 1890 nurses for a year
- Cost-of-living relief for 75,000 households
- 400 new social housing units
Instead, it goes to more politicians. More offices. More staff. More parliamentary pensions.
This is ridiculous.
Labor caused the population growth they’re now using to justify this – through record immigration, without the housing, hospitals or infrastructure to match.
They won 94 seats and now want to redesign parliament so they hold even more.
No mandate. No referendum. No justification.
Sign the open letter below and tell the government: no more politicians while Australians are doing it tough.
TO THE PRIME MINISTER OF AUSTRALIA AND THE LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION
I oppose the expansion of the federal parliament.
And I don’t want any more politicians.
At a time when Australian families are struggling with the cost of living, spending $189 million on 42 new politicians is wrong.
No party took this to the last election. No voter was consulted. This proposal has no mandate.
I call on the government to:
- Immediately halt any moves to expand the size of the federal parliament.
- Commit that any change to the number of MPs or Senators will only proceed via a referendum or binding plebiscite.
- Redirect the $189 million to cost-of-living relief, housing and health services.
Politicians should not be allowed to vote to expand their own numbers, with our money, without asking us first.
