PC Gender Approach Risks Lives

In a clear example of the lunacy that occurs when government adopts a politically correct (PC) agenda, lives are being put at risk in the UK as women who identify as male are being invited for vital cervical cancer screening, even though they don’t have a cervix.

Under the NHS system in Britain, people who identify as a gender different to their biological one and prefer to register as such with their GP are being notified of gender-specific health screening required for their preferred rather than biological sex.

As the UK Sun reports:

If a transman, born female, registers as male he won’t be invited for routine breast screenings at 50, or cervical screening. However, if a transwoman registers as female they will be routinely invited for cervical screening.

Cervical cancer claims the lives of 900 women each year in Britain, and it is believed the number would be four times higher without screening.

Screening saves lives by spotting cancer early so treatment can begin sooner. Those who are not screened are more likely to develop a more advanced cancer which can be fatal.

Men identifying as women will also miss out on getting tested for a blood vessel defect called an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), from the age of 65 men are invited to attend an ultrasound scan.

AAAs are six times more comment in older men than women, and if left untreated can result in a fatal artery rupture.”

We agree with women’s campaigner Laura Perrins, who summed up the lunacy:

“We’ve now got to the point where state collusion with this transgender agenda is endangering the health of women.

“It’s a ludicrous use of NHS resources to invite men for a cervical smear test, while it’s immoral and dangerous not to invite women.”

Yet it is sanctioned and implemented government policy in the UK! And as we’ve seen on other issues, what starts elsewhere inevitably makes its way to our shores.

Sadly, it’s a natural progression of the fashionable denial of scientific fact: that there are biological differences between men and women.  Left-wing activists see gender as a social construct and a matter of choice.  They deny the biological reality.

Just as significantly, they dictate that causing offence is a crime and must be avoided at all cost. But at the cost of people’s lives?  Not to mention the government funding that is being diverted and wasted in the process.

Sexuality is an individual matter, but government health policy must be based on reality – not experimental left-wing agendas.
