Chris Bowen wants Australians to tighten their belts.

He wants families to pay more for electricity in the name of Net Zero. He wants businesses to absorb higher costs. He wants farmers to live with endless climate rules.

But when it's time for Bowen to host climate bureaucrats? It's a five-star resorts in Fiji.

According to reporting in The Australian, Bowen's department has set aside up to $4.2 million to reserve luxury accommodation for delegates attending pre-COP31 talks in Fiji. The bookings include the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort, the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa, and the Radisson Blu Resort.

Golf courses.

Beachfront resorts.

Six restaurants.

Wellness spas.

Nightclubs.

This is the climate elite lecturing Australians about sacrifice while enjoying luxury on your tab.

To make matters worse: this isn’t even the actual COP31 conference. This is purely a junket for Bowen to gladhand with other bureaucrats.

This comes after Bowen's COP operation had already racked up almost $500,000 in travel costs in the first four months of the year. Budget estimates have also revealed taxpayers are facing a bill of almost $150 million linked to Australia's COP presidency role.

Bowen calls it "good value".

Good value for who?

Certainly not the family struggling to pay another power bill.

Certainly not the small business owner paying more to keep the lights on.

Certainly not the manufacturer watching energy costs destroy their competitiveness.

Labor keeps telling Australians there is no alternative.

No choice.

No compromise.

Just higher bills and more sacrifice.

Funny how that sacrifice never seems to apply to Chris Bowen.

The Government says the accommodation bookings are flexible and some costs will be recovered from participating countries. It also argues securing hotel capacity is standard practice for major international events.

That doesn't change the bigger picture.

Bowen has become the public face of a climate agenda that asks Australians to accept less while the political class flies business class, books luxury resorts and spends hundreds of millions chasing international climate prestige.

This is exactly why so many Australians have lost faith in Net Zero.

The rules are for you.

The luxury is for them.
