Chris Bowen is a joke
Energy Minister Chris Bowen keeps telling us his Net Zero plan is all about cleaner, cheaper energy for Australians, but you’d be hard pressed to find a minister less interested in Australia’s needs than Chris Bowen.
In fact, it’s becoming pretty clear he’s not interested in anything much except his own advancement on the global stage.
How else do you explain his bizarre deal with the Turkish government to take on the Presidency of the COP31 UN Climate Change Summit as part of surrendering his desire to host the event in Adelaide?
Don’t get us wrong, hosting COP31 would have been a disaster. COP is the biennial UN talkfest where a lot of Very Important People take private jets to places around the world to discuss how to make your bills more expensive and your power supply worse with Net Zero.
It would have cost somewhere in the realm of $300 million for Australia to host the summit, with no real benefit – except to boost Chris Bowen’s ego ambition.
But that ego and ambition could not go unsated.
As The Australian’s Geoff Chambers labelled him, he’s now the “Minister for UN Summits”.
COP President is generally considered a full-time job, but Bowen is not stepping down from his day job as Minister for Energy.
This means that while he’s meant to be getting your power bills down and making our energy more reliable, he’ll be jetsetting across the world to shake hands with dignitaries and make promises using Australian taxpayer funds to boost an event on the other side of the world.
If you ever needed proof Net Zero has nothing to do with the climate and Australia’s interests, and everything to do with dollars and destruction, here it is.
These people are a joke.
They’re not interested in what is good for Australia and for Australians.
Bowen, and Albanese too, just want to take fancy flights and shake hands with famous, important people, get their mug on the front of the newspaper and on TV, and fuel their own ambitions and legacies.
And Australian families are paying the price every day due to an energy crisis that’s making everything more expensive.
It does make you wonder: who will put Australia first?
Because these jokers sure won’t.
