Cost of net zero: 500,000 jobs and a MASSIVE hit to the economy

The numbers have come in on the cost of net zero, and they’re dead set terrifying.

According to a new report from the Institute of Public Affairs, going net zero will cost the regions 500,000 jobs and Australia $274 billion (or 13.5 per cent) of GDP in economic development.

Read that again. Half a million jobs at risk.

Of course, the impacts would be concentrated in the major resources states of Queensland and Western Australia.

For example, if coal, gas and oil projects were banned, the people of north Queensland would lose $66.58 billion in economic output. That would prevent the creation of approximately 125,000 jobs, which is the equivalent to around 35.9 per cent of the current local workforce or 25 years’ worth of job creation.

In central Queensland, $19.38 billion would be lost in economic output. That would prevent the creation of approximately 36,650 jobs which is the equivalent to around 31.8 per cent of the current local workforce or 18 years’ worth of job creation.

In south-west Queensland, $33.65 billion in economic output would be lost. That would prevent the creation of approximately 60,154 jobs which is equivalent to around 44.5 per cent of the current local workforce or 50 years’ worth of job creation.

In the Hunter, $11.5 billion in economic output would be lost. That would prevent the creation of approximately 21,800 jobs which is the equivalent to around 6.7 per cent of the current local workforce or 4 years’ worth of job creation.

On a state-wide basis, Western Australia would lose $114.76 billion in economic output. That would prevent the creation of 186,000 jobs which is the equivalent to around 12.8 per cent of Western Australia’s current workforce or 8.5 years’ worth of job creation.

In Queensland, $119.61 billion in economic output would be lost. That would prevent the creation of around 221,900 jobs which is the equivalent to around 8.4 per cent of Queensland’s current workforce or 5 years’ worth of job creation.

Even in New South Wales, $23.52 billion in economic output would be lost. This would prevent the creation of around 42,900 jobs which is the equivalent to around 1 per cent of NSW’s workforce or almost a years’ worth of job creation.

Meanwhile, the CCP is building 100 coal-fired power plants on top of the 1000 they currently operate. They’re expanding their domestic coal production and financing new coal, oil and gas fields all over the world.

All so they can produce the weather-dependent solar panels and wind turbines that the West is being forced to import by traitorous politicians and international agreements we never voted on.
