STOP LABOR'S DEATH TAX BY STEALTH
Anthony Albanese promised no death tax.
He lied.
Buried in the Budget fine print is a 30% minimum tax on family trusts – the structures ordinary Australians use to pass an inheritance to their kids.
The tradie who built a business. The couple who paid off an investment property. The self-funded retiree who structured their estate carefully.
They did everything right. Labor is changing the rules on them without warning.
Estate planners are calling it “a death duty by any other name”. Independent analysis shows the effective tax rate could hit 62.9%.
And when ordinary Australians push back, Treasurer Jim Chalmers calls them “unhinged”.

Stop Labor’s death tax by stealth.
TO THE PRIME MINISTER AND THE TREASURER:
I oppose Labor’s death tax by stealth.
You promised no death tax. You broke that promise.
The 30% minimum tax on family trusts buried in your Budget is a death duty by any other name. Independent experts have said so. So have estate planners, accountants, and ordinary Australians who structured their affairs in good faith.
This is the inheritance I want to leave my family. Not the government’s to take.
Withdraw the changes. Honour your election commitment.
No death tax. No more broken promises.
Sincerely,
Your concerned fellow Australians.
