GetUp!: ‘Advance’s campaigns are working’

“And this is hard for me to admit – but Advance's campaigns are working.”

Those are the words of “Paul” from GetUp! in its latest email to their supporters.

No, seriously. I’m not making it up.

Your ADVANCE movement is so successful that GetUp! is trying to raise money to try and stop you.

The email talks about politicians rejecting the Welcome to Country and Net Zero and credits ADVANCE with making those stances possible.

The email says the opposition to Net Zero and Welcome to Country “were the product of a years-long campaign by Advance”.

The email later goes on to say people should donate to GetUp!:

Because the scary reality is that Advance has never been more powerful than they are today.

Damn straight.

It’s quite an admission from the once powerful left wing lobby group after a federal election where GetUp were virtually absent from the campaign amidst the departure of their CEO and a collapse in their funding.

Crikey reported at the time that

GetUp! has been notably absent during the 2025 election campaign…GetUp! has spent a grand total of $3,615 on 15 total ads. For context, political parties, candidates and groups spent more than $11.38 million during that same period.…the group has not put out a media release since November last year, nor has it released any new reports. It’s also closing its petition platform, Campaigns by Me, at the end of the month.

The demise of GetUp! is welcome news for Australians who care about the future of our country.

And it’s a testament to the spectacular support and effort of every one of ADVANCE’s supporters that our campaigns have had success.

Make no mistake, if this is what GetUp! is prepared to say publicly, they are even more worried about you behind closed doors.

And I guarantee that the powerbrokers in Labor, the Coalition, and the Greens have all had the same conversations about your successes.

They know your campaigns are effective.

They know ADVANCE is speaking to mainstream values and people are responding.

But whatever our successes, we are not resting on our laurels.

Australia’s freedom, prosperity, and security is too important for that.

GetUp! is certainly right about one thing in its email, ADVANCE is playing the long game.

And that game is just getting started.
