Labor’s Net Zero Junket

While Aussie families are struggling to pay for groceries, power bills and a tank of fuel, Labor was preparing a taxpayer-backed climate circus in Adelaide.

Recent FOI’d documents show Chris Bowen’s bid to host climate junket COP31 was complete with delegate gift bags, free travel perks, and even accommodation on cruise ships.

The price tag on the bid alone was in the millions, let alone what the event itself would’ve cost.

Labor’s priority was not housing, not cheaper energy, not help for working people. It was a global junket dressed up as virtue.

The FOI documents are damning. A feasibility study for Adelaide’s failed COP31 bid said delegates would expect “a type of gift bag” and noted COP26 had included free travel cards for attendees.

It also raised the use of “floating hotels” or “flotels” despite warning that stationary cruise ships would burn petrol or diesel and create emissions that did “not align with the purpose of COP meetings” and would need to be “managed politically”.

That is Net Zero in one neat package. Rules for you. Not for them.

It gets worse. The documents total more than 260 pages, but over 200 pages remain redacted, kept from the public by the same political class that always demands more transparency from everyone else.

Net Zero has become a culture of secrecy. The costs are hidden. The trade-offs are hidden. The pain for families is very real, but the truth is always blacked out.

The study also warned hosting the summit could displace hotel guests, flight crews and students, while the Adelaide Convention Centre could require a six-week bump-in and further time to pack down.

Even after the bid failed, government spending on COP31 preparations reached $1.3 million in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and another $2.5 million in SA Police.

Millions burned chasing a climate vanity project while households are told to tighten their belts.

This is the Net Zero scam.

The people forcing it on the country do not live by its logic. They sell sacrifice to everyone else while planning perks for themselves.

They preach emissions discipline while entertaining diesel-powered conferences.

They hide the details because they know ordinary people would never sign up for this deal in the open.

Net Zero is a political racket, and families are paying for it.
