SHOCK: ABC tells the truth!
In a stunning turn of events, a little bit of truth slipped through the cracks at the ABC this week.
Shocking, I know.
But the most fundamental truth about climate policy and Net Zero was spoken by the ABC’s Finance reporter, Alan Kohler, in a short video posted on Sunday.
Kohler began his video with this simple fact:
“I’m sorry to say this, but we’re not going to stop global warming.”
You’re kidding! Surely that can’t be true after all the panic and hysteria from the mainstream media and environmental activists for the last two decades?
No, it really is true.
Kohler admits that global emissions have continued to rise despite all those nice conferences and agreements and marches and taxes.
And he then drops another truth bomb. Because Kohler knows whose fault this is.
“It’s China’s fault. China is almost entirely responsible for the increase in carbon dioxide emissions since 1997; with a little help from India.”
This is what every single person who has questions over Net Zero has been saying all along.
All these multilateral agreements are not worth a thing when China and India (and indeed other countries like the United States) are not cutting emissions.
We are making ourselves poorer for no reason.
Because then Kohler tops it off with the most important truth of all.
“Australia’s emissions have increased by 20% as well but that amount is a rounding error.”
In other words: whatever we do will make no difference to the climate.
Now, Kohler is at the ABC, so he can’t help himself and he still wants a carbon tax, he wants the political division over this issue to continue, and he thinks we should keep pushing for Net Zero even though, as he admits, it won’t matter.
He’s paid by your taxes, just like the Net Zero policies are, so it doesn’t matter to him.
He thinks Australia should focus on mitigation and being prepared for worse climate events.
So, the ABC’s argument is nothing we’re doing is going to work but we should just do it anyway.
ADVANCE’s argument is nothing we’re doing is going to work, and so we should stop doing it. We should put Australians first. Not cheap coal-fired power for Chinese and Indian families and businesses.
Which one sounds more reasonable to you?
After all, if the worst scaremongering about the climate really does come to pass, the way Australians get through it is with energy independence and prosperity.
It’s having the wealth to build housing, infrastructure, and disaster response systems that will stand up when needed.
And you can’t do that with unreliable energy and an economy that’s been torpedoed by high energy costs.
So let’s stop the charade.
Stop all the subsidies and taxes. Dump Net Zero.
And let’s focus on doing what actually works.
