Sign this open letter calling on Senator Lidia Thorpe to resign for insulting King Charles
“You are not my King!”
Who does Lidia think she is?
Senator Lidia Thorpe didn’t just insult King Charles, though she certainly did that.
She hasn’t just humiliated herself – and Australia – on the world stage, though she certainly did that too.
She didn’t just question the legitimacy of our oldest institutions – indeed of the legitimacy of the country itself. Though she definitely did that.
No, Senator Lidia Thorpe has attacked you.
When she says “this is not your land”, what she means is, this is not any of your land: so give it back.
This is extremist language – which is no surprise, because Lidia Thorpe has built her entire political career off polarisation and division.
She was, after all, Deputy Leader of the Greens, and it’s clear she’s just borrowing their playbook.
And now, desperate for attention, she insults our Royal Family, our King and our country in front of the world.
This is a step too far, enough is enough.
Remember: this will keep happening until we say NO
This is no isolated incident.
Activists and political extremists are trying to attack Australia’s traditions and history.
We didn’t just say NO to the divisive Voice referendum, only to let our guard down.
Extremists like Lidia won’t rest until every tradition of ours is attacked, every statue is torn down.
Unless we take a stand and say NO.
Lidia, for the sake of Australia, stand down.
To Senator Lidia Thorpe,
Australia is a country of traditions.
Our traditions are what make us who we are.
By heckling our King, you did not just insult him. You did not just insult our traditions or our sacred institutions.
You insulted me.
You insulted every single Australian who loves this country.
You insulted every single Australian who fought and died under OUR flag.
You insulted the people who founded our country, and those who helped build it into what it is today,
You do not represent us. You are not fit to lead us.
Senator Lidia Thorpe: you are not our Senator.
Step down.
